Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made for you by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of your teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Porcelain veneers are very thin, custom-made porcelain covers, which are placed over your existing teeth for aesthetic purposes. In order to fix a single damaged or misaligned tooth, one single veneer can be placed. Many veneers can also be used to create a complete smile makeover.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom made porcelain covers made to fit precisely over your existing teeth to improve their appearance.

A single porcelain veneer can be placed to fix a single damaged or misaligned tooth or many veneers can be placed in the mouth to create a complete restorative smile makeover. Veneers typically cover the front surface of your teeth.

What are other options for my smile?

An alternative to porcelain veneers is a resin composite material that closely mirrors the natural colouration of your existing teeth.

However, porcelain veneers better resist stains than the resin composite and mimic the light reflecting properties of your natural teeth better than resin.

How does the veneers procedure work?

Dental and porcelain veneers are used to fix teeth that are discoloured, worn down, chipped or broken, misaligned or to fill gaps between teeth.

The procedure requires nominal advance preparation, usually involving three appointments including the preliminary consultation and digital imaging.

For the second dentist visit, your dentist will shave off the amount of tooth enamel to be replaced by the veneer and an impression of your tooth will be taken and sent to a lab with the veneer typically returned in 1-2 weeks.
